Founded in 2020, ROYA was borne out of the need for re-imagination in service of a better future. Through building creative community, connecting people to resources and opportunities, and expanding cultural placemaking, ROYA is committed to radical world-building toward a future where everyone has the opportunity to be creative, to engage with arts and culture, and to shape creative and cultural infrastructure in their communities.
Since our founding, we have worked with 30+ artists, cultural workers, creative practitioners, and organizations to produce arts and culture events, workshops, and various gatherings focused on world-building through civic and cultural engagement. Our work spans Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New York.
As a growing community-based arts and culture organization, we are a fully remote team of multidisciplinary cultural workers, artists, organizers, and practitioners from the global diaspora. Our decision to remain remote enables us to continously be in commuity spaces, to strengthen and foster collaborations, and to adapt to the evolving needs of the creative communities we are part of. We are committed to creating spaces for us, by us and our impact ties to our focus on people, policy, and equitable placemaking.
